Kade David William Massey brought a distinctive energy to the lives of those around him. Loved for his humor, loyalty, adventurous spirit and fierce devotion to family, Kade leaves behind memories that will remain deeply cherished.
Born December 20, 1998, to Sarah Massey and Jesse Stockert, Kade died on August 25, 2026, at age 27, following a motor vehicle accident. His obituary describes a young man whose greatest accomplishments were found not simply in work or education, but in the relationships he built.
Kade graduated from Legacy High School in Bismarck in 2017 before earning an Associate of Science degree in Power Plant Technology from Bismarck State College. In 2018, he began working for Madison Gas and Electric in Wisconsin, spending four years there before returning to Bismarck. He later worked at Bennigan’s in Mandan, where he valued the people and friendships he encountered.
Family was at the center of Kade’s life. He shared a close bond with his mother, Sarah, his sister Saige and his grandparents David and Gaylene Massey. He was remembered as fiercely protective, generous with those he loved and always willing to show up when someone needed him.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, sports and time on the river, while his beloved dog Ghost was a constant companion. A former basketball and football athlete, Kade continued pursuing adventure after a serious knee injury ended his competitive sports journey.
Kade is survived by his parents, siblings, grandparents, extended family and countless friends. His life may have ended far too soon, but the laughter, love and unforgettable memories he created will continue through everyone who knew him.
